“Anantara is one of a handful of stand out hotels in Budapest and possibly the most striking in design. The hotel makes a grand statement of a first impression as you enter the impressive columned atrium lobby and look across to the opulent painted celings of the New York cafe.
The iconic New York Café is part of the hotel and a toursit destination in its own right with queues to get in forming early in the mroning and lasting all day. Access to the cafe is one of the perks of being a hotel resident with breakfast served there every morning.
Aside from the architectural marvel and the proximity to the New York Café, the hotel boasts a number of other amenities you would expect to find in a hotel of this grandeur. The basement spa has a compact lap pool, contemporary sauna, steam room and smart treatment area.
The Staff at Anantara New York Palace were all very friendly and eager to help. Speed of service is perhaps the one area of inconstency as we witnessed more than a few reidents complain about the time to be served drinks in the stylish Poet bar whilst service in most other area's of the hotel was generally exceptional.
The rooms are large, luxurious and thoughtfully designed. The terrace rooms on the 5th floor had particulalry good views across the danube to Buda castle which lights the Budapest sky up at night.
The hotel's location is a good base for exploring this vibrant city. The Ruin bars are a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel whilst the danube river and St. Stephen's Basilica take around 20 minutes to reach on foot.
